N64 GoldenEye To XBox Live Arcade Or Revolution's Virtual Console?

We were just reading IGN's "Retro Remix" Round 3 and they've just let lose a little can of worms that we'd never really considered. We've never heard anything either way about it either. While talking about whether or not Sin and Punishment will make it to the Virtual Console system, they mention GoldenEye:
"While Goldeneye is still up in the air, since rumors are now formulating that Microsoft may include a multiplayer version on their Xbox Arcade, the possibility still remains."
Imagine that hey? That would be a bit of a coup over Nintendo for one. Who really owns the rights here? Rare or Nintendo?
And even then - will Microsoft spruce up the levels and give us an updated HiDef version for our 360?

when talking about rights, don't forget EA own the James Bond rights.
this'll be a real legal battle if MS want it. i think they should go for it though
Good point about the EA stuff, but they don't have any say in old IP though do they? Just new stuff?
If MS fight for the legality here its bound to win them back shed loads of dosh in downloads!
